Alkuperäinen sukka on puuvillaa, mutta jotenkin en pidä puuvillan neulomisesta, joten otin langaksi Pirkanmaan kotityön Ryijylangan, 100% villaa. Puikot on kokoa 2.

I started to knit THE Egyptian Stockings. All in stranded knitting, toe up, with a primitive heel, incredibly beautufull stockings with "the name of god" - Allah in Kufic calligraphy. You find the description breathtaking? Yeah, me too. To begin with I just drooled over them on internet. Last spring I took a step closer by knitting first a pair normal socks, then a pair with stranded pattern all ower, took a brake with a pair of lace stockings and went on with some toe up -socks. The HistoricKnit -yahoo group provided a lot of good info.
The original stocking is cotton, but somehow I´m not a cotton type of person, so I setteled for 100% wool. Needels are European size 2. It would have felt like a sacrilege to use a sock yarn with polyester. I`ll blog as the work advances. Wish me luck!
